So what is a Staycation, you ask? Well, instead of vacating the home and traveling away for fun (vacation), you stay at home and do fun stuff not too far from home! With the economy like it is, that is what we did!

Looks like you all had fun. π Our vacation this year will be to travel to Idaho, where my husbands little brother is getting married. I'm looking forward to seeing friends and family.

What a nice day to have with your family! π
We have a river nearby so summertime is always fun.
Ewww, buzzards make me shiver too. Yuck.
I hope your hands feel better today!

Oh, that looks way fun!! Makes me want to go canoing! The fun staycations…. boating/jetskiing on the Mississippi (we live right by it)with friends and sandbar hoping. Wow, I haven't done that since high school. One of my best friends parents had a house on the river and boats and all that. We did it all summer! So fun!

Lynnette, it's nice when you can combine family and vacations like that. We did that one year going to Indiana for a wedding. Good times!
Jessica, so do you spend a lot of time in the river? Do you live in the country, away from the city? And yes, my hands are better. At least I can type now!!!
Katie, I have never jetskied, but it looks like sooo much fun! How cool to have friends who give us fun times and good memories!

That looks like a blast!!!! My kids aren't old enough to go on that kind of vacation yet (I shutter at the thought of my 3 year old in a canoe!) but it will be fun when they are older!
Well, my “mommycation” starts on MOnday. Kiddos, all three of them, are going to Grandma and Grandpa's house in NC and staying for TWO WEEKS! Although, we'll be there the final weekend of the two weeks to pick them up, which is the part that is “vacation.” We don't do anything wildly outragous when we go, just hang with the family, eat a lot of food, that sort of thing:-)
All our money for a VACATION this year, Scott and I are hording greedily. We're going to ACFW in Denver then staying an extra 3 days. (our 10th anniv is the week after so this is a combination trip!) We are SOOOOoo So excited about it!

Oh Sherrinda! What a fun couple of days!!! I saw the pictures over on Facebook and so I'm glad you did a blog post to explain! What a precious couple of days with wonderful memories! I love the idea of staying close to home and doing a couple of fun day trips. Sometimes we put too much stock in the big shee-bang vacations, when really the important thing is being together and making memories!

Krista! Two whole weeks by yourself with your hubby???? I cannot imagine that. Seriously, how wonderful to get some time to yourself. I suppose you are going to write, write, write! π And…good luck on your weight loss during that weekend of eating!!!! LOL…I haven't started my “diet” yet, because of the staycation, but I am today and have decided to start exercising too. Sigh…what a pain!

Jody, we have never done a staycation and I thought it was so much fun! We have so many things around here that we have never done before and it was soooo nice to sleep in our own beds! The kids really seemed to enjoy the time together and that made it really special (teens having fun with the parents???lol) I will say though, I someday want to take my whole family to Disney World. I have never been and so want to!!!!
