Fatty Friday & Loving Book Covers!

As you can see by my title, my weigh in did not go well, but I’m not going to whine. I gained .4 pounds, which “could” have been due to the fact that I was wearing jeans instead of something more lightweight like I had been. Nonetheless, I ate out more and gave into the bread. I cannot pass up a hot, steamy roll, golden and glistening with what looks to be decadent butter. What is it with the carbs anyway? But here’s to a new day. A new week. Discipline and will power is mine, I say.
I was thinking a post about the worst book covers ever would be a great idea. And it really is, except for the fact that alot of the covers I found are not appropriate. Seriously, my husband and I were crying with laughter over some of these covers. Oh my, I sure with I could post some. But alas, my tender sensibilities keeps me in line and I shall refrain.
So, I thought I’d share some covers that I absolutely love.

These are just a few of my favorite covers. I haven’t read all of them, but I just think they are lovely and would make me pick them up off the shelf.

What kinds of covers are you drawn to?

  1. I am about to have my first novel published (late November 2009) and the cover kind of fits into the theme of this post! You can see the photo on my profile.

The picture is of a bride and groom, but it's less lovey-dovey than the other covers you have posted here.

But then, the title of my book is “BLOOD and GROOM”.

    Cheers, Jill

  2. Sherrinda,

I am praying for you weight goals, but I love your spirit.

The book covers you included are eye catching, my favorite is the last one.

I hate that I am not computer savvy enough to load one of my own, but I'm working on learning the ropes.

    Congratulations Jill!
    Blessings to you…

  3. Those later pounds are always the hardest to lose! But you didn't gain, so that's awesome!

And yes, covers draw my to a book! In fact, a really good cover will even inspire me to buy a book!

  4. Yeah, I hate to say this, but I tend to judge a book by its cover. That doesn't mean I won't read a book that has a bad cover, but I don't gravitate to a bad cover when walking through a bookstore.

I think it's wonderful that you didn't gain. I agree with Jody, those later pounds are way more difficult.

  6. Those are lovely colors. I'm drawn to more simple covers, kinda like twilightish. The abstractness draws me in. I'm kinda strange like that 🙂

  8. Sherrinda…. .4 pounds? LOL! I wouldn't worry about it. You're absolutely right that it could be the jeans. 🙂

As for covers, I do like those ones you have, pretty women in even prettier dresses and lots of jewelry! LOL What's not to like about that?

Those covers are romantic and pretty!

I won't pick up a cover that's too racy. I like simple covers or covers that strike the mood of the book.

  12. Lovely covers indeed! Sometimes (more often than not) I'll let a cover sell me the book! I need to keep that in mind when I get published and am at the cover phase 😉 Don't worry about the carbs. I've convinced myself September calories didn't count, what with all the birthday's I had and vacations… There's always October, right? =)

  13. It's October–the month adds five pounds. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)

I love all the covers. I think it's the girly dresses and wispy colors. Makes me want to pick them up and eeny-meeny-miney-moe them!

    Have a great weekend!

I was happy to find that after three weeks of vacation and eating like a stevedore, I only gained three pounds. Then hopped on the scale after four days of slimfast and salads and I had lost four! Woohoo!

Of course I ate out tonight and probably did some damage.

  16. Jeans are heavy. I have a hi-tech scale that calculates weight to the half pound. I weighed myself normally and then grabbed a pair of jeans in my arms and weighed again. Guess what? The second reading was a full pound heavier! So, who knows, Sherrinda? You may have actually lost weight! 🙂

Nice book covers. The bottom one is my favorite, but they're all pretty.

  18. Sherrinda: I'm sure the gain was your jeans. Jeans weigh exactly .4 pounds!

I like these covers, too. I am drawn to ones with lots of color, and a picture that piques my curiosity.
