A New Year, A New Word

I love a new year. I love the feel of new beginnings, new starts, new focus. Last year I chose the word, ANTICIPATE, as my word for the year and it did not disappoint. After a few years of hardship and disappointments, I wanted to anticipate God’s blessing in all areas of my life. And He was sweet to me. It was a beautiful year of blessings, joys, changes, productivity, new job, new found love of art, a move, and an increase in salary.

I prayed about what God wanted me to focus on for this new year and I fee like He led me to the word, BRAVE. I tend to get paralyzed by fear in many areas of my life. I fear taking charge. I fear taking risks. I fear letting others see the real me. I fear putting my art or words out there for the world to see. I fear speaking out about my faith. I fear….

So this year, I aim to be BRAVE.

My goal is to follow the Lord’s leading bravely, wholeheartedly. Whatever door opens, I will walk through. Whenever I feel His nudge, I will move. When He says jump, I will leap in faith.

Be strong and brave, and don’t tremble in fear of them, because the Eternal your God is going with you. He’ll never fail you or abandon you!  Deuteronomy 31: 6

In preparation for the year, I painted the cover of my Documented Life Project journal and I put my word on the cover as a reminder of what I want to be this year. I think it turned out perfect.

Have you chosen a word for the year? Or made some New Year’s resolutions?

Have a great day and a Happy New Year!
