I Made a Faux Midori Notebook Cover

My first project of the summer was a success. I mentioned Friday that I was in love with the Midori Traveler’s Notebook and decided to try and make a couple to hold my Moleskine notebooks. Well, here is my finished product and I am so happy with it! I followed this tutorial HERE and it was pretty easy.

My blue notebook holds my Documented Life journal and the journal I use to take notes on the Sunday sermons. The pink notebook holds my prayer journal and the journal I use to write what I think the Holy Spirit is showing me and how He manifests Himself in my life.

I love having a pretty holder for my notebooks!

What projects are you into right now?

A Desperate Hunger and Thirst

I don’t know about you, but when I am hungry and thirsty I am not comfortable. In fact, sometimes I can be downright cranky! And the thing is, I am really not desperate for food and water, as I have only to open my pantry or turn on my water faucet to get what I need.

We don’t like being uncomfortable, do we?

And yet, Jesus says we are blessed when we hunger and thirst for his righteousness. It’s not blessed are the content and comfortable on their spiritual journey. It’s blessed are those who are uncomfortable…desperate for more…longing for a richer relationship with Jesus…willing to sacrifice in order to gain more of Him.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.  It’s a call on our lives. It is a summons to develop a hunger and thirst for more of His presence in our lives.

Even Jesus was not content where he was. At the beginning of his ministry he went to John the baptist to be baptized. John didn’t want to baptize Jesus, as Jesus should have been the one to baptize him. But Jesus said he needed to be baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He didn’t really need to be baptized for his sins, and yet he needed to take the next step in his journey. He needed to fulfill his Father’s mission and he was taking the next step.

What is our next step?

Are you content in your spiritual walk? If so, then you need to take the next step in praying for a hunger and thirst for more of Him. God says that our prayers are answered if it is in accordance with His will. What could me more in His will than loving Him more? Pray for a hunger for Him. Pray that He will give you a desire for Him. He will answer with a YES!

Then you will thirst as you ought.

And you will be filled with living water….Himself.

Fun Friday Five

Here is what I am into this week:

DIY Traveler’s Notebook

This is one of my projects to make for my summer break and I can hardly wait to get all the supplies to make one. No, I am not going to use it for a traveling notebook. I have several Moleskine journals that I use for prayers, taking notes of sermons, how the Spirit is moving, and I’m about to change up my Documented Life Project and use a Moleskine journal for the rest of the year (the format this year has been way to involved for a working woman and so I’m going to go old school in a Moleskine). So this “traveler’s notebook” will be a place where I can hold 3 journals all together.

Isn’t it pretty?  You Tube Tutorial on how to make one HERE.

This notebook can be purchased at Scrapipebre

I am on my 3 week summer break (I’m a secretary at an elementary school.) and so I like to do a little Netflix binge. My problem is I search and search and then have trouble making a decision. It is weird to have so many movies and shows at my fingertips and not seem to find something good. Any suggestions?

I am reading my fiction book of the month, The Traveller by Lynn Kurland.  I love her books, but seem to have trouble reading them on my Kindle. I have most of her full length paperbacks, but got this novella on my Kindle to read. I hope I meet my deadline of June 30!

Studying Scripture

I stumbled upon Kristin Schmucker in my Instagram feed and fell in love with her heart. She has an article on studying scripture that I thought was great! You can find it HERE.  I ordered one of her devotional guides and should be it in the mail soon! Yay!

I found a calligrapher that I just love! Her name is Amanda Arneill and I absolutely love her style. Her blog is informative, her shop is incredible,  her Instagram full of beauty, and she is a gracious lettering artist, offering up great information and help for those of us who struggle with learning the craft of lettering.

That’s what I’ve been into this week. I hope you have had a great week and have been captured by things around you that make you smile.

Beth Moore, books, love, spiritual

Audacious Love

The non-fiction book I read for June was Audacious by Beth Moore. May I just say…”Wow”. This book stirred my soul and gave me a thirst and a hunger for more. You know how you get in a rut and are just going through life and everything is just gray? Then you glimpse a bit a color on the horizon, a vivid burst of warm color that drives you forward to bask in its beauty. Well, that was what this book did for me. It helped me see once again the rich love of God…audacious love….and reminded me of the audacious love I once had and have been missing.

“The love Jesus longs for is not just devotion. It’s also emotion. It’s not just volition. It is also affection. It is not just discipline. It is also passion. It’s not just routine. It is also romance. And not just for Christ’s sake but also for ours. Love is the catalyst. The holy cause and effect.”

Following Jesus isn’t just doing church. It’s a relationship. It’s a love for Him…and audacious love.

“The person you are when you love Jesus with everything in you – with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength – is the real you. The brilliant you. The bring-it you. The breathtaking you. The born-for-this you. The person you were born to be crawls out of the shell of a heart cracked wide-open to the audacious love of Christ.”

I want to be the real me. The me that loves with audacious love…a love filled with vitality and verve.

“Every one of you who earnestly asks God to grant you a bold and daring answering-love for Jesus, marked by originality and verve, are going to receive it.”

All I need to do is ask…and keep asking. Loving Him passionately, audaciously, is His will for me and so he will definitely answer my prayer with a resounding YES!

Beth Moore has a beautiful way with words and this book is filled with beautiful word pictures that grab your heart!

“The sentences of our stories are meant to be penned from the inkwell of the supernatural.”

Who doesn’t want God’s supernatural power writing our story? We want His Spirit to be active and powerful in our everyday lives, helping us see Him at work around us and inviting us to join Him in His kingdom work.

If you are ready to have your heart re-charged and spurred on to love Jesus audaciously, then get Beth Moore’s book, Audacious, and savor each and every word. You won’t be sorry.

Fun Friday Five

The Fun Friday Five

I’m starting up the Friday Five posts where I talk about 5 things that make me happy, or I’m obsessed with, or new finds that make me smile. So here’s today’s Friday Five:

I’ve been seeing this all over Instagram and had to have the tools to make this happen. Seriously, it is the easiest, coolest thing ever. I purchased the Ranger Embossing Pen, Ranger Embossing Power, and a heat tool. Write something, sprinkle powder on, remove excess powder, then use the heat tool to heat your writing and BOOM!…you have a beautiful piece of lettering. I’m obsessed.

I’ve given myself a challenge for the rest of the year to read one non-fiction book and one fiction Audacious by Beth Moore. It is so good and so inspiring. I will do a book review when I’m finished. Here are some books that I purchased from when they were having a 90% off sale.  I don’t think I paid more than $2 for any books I bought. SCORE!!!!
book a month. I’ve gotten into a bad habit of watching Netfix ALL. THE. TIME. and I am going to start a new habit. Right now I am reading

Bible Journaling
I really love journaling in my Bible and making the Word of God come alive with color. It truly helps me meditate on scripture and facilitates memorization. Well, I would like to say that I have all my journaled verses memorized, but alas…I am 50 and things don’t stick like they used to.

I have been working on my garden some this year. My hope is that one day it will be an explosion of color, but right now, it is just a smattering of color.

Abstract Art
I bought a HUGE canvas on clearance a few months ago and I want to do something abstract with it, so I’ve been perusing the abstract art on Pinterest. Oh my goodness…such beauty! I know mine will never look like the stuff I’ve been seeing, but wow…such inspiration. Click on the links below the pictures to see more of these artists impressive work.
